Pine City Ambassadors
About the Program
High School Juniors who are interested in becoming a Pine City Ambassador should look for applications to be delivered to their school in February of each school year. The application must be filled in completely, and all items listed in the requirements must be completed and turned in on time. Applications will not be accepted after the deadline. Students must turn their applications in themselves, applications turned in by a third party will not be accepted. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Students are then scheduled for an interview, the students must come dressed as they would for a job interview, they need to be on time and prepared. The interview (lasting about 10 minutes) is scored by individuals who are not personally connected with the students or their families. The students who are selected to participate in the program are judged on many different aspects, including: GPA, activities (and leadership roles played in those), essay, references, and an interview. The program includes at least one monthly get together. These meetings can include events, leadership programs, field trips, volunteer work, and attending community forums. The students who complete the program are awarded a scholarship from the City of Jackson.
Welcoming our new Pine City Ambassadors, Class of 2018!
This new group of Ambassadors contains students from Jackson High School, Jackson Academy, Leroy High School, and Solid Rock Christian School. This year the Ambassadors will start off with a heavy load, orientation and Memorial Day in their first month. These students will spend the next several months learning leadership skills that will hopefully help them to succeed in the future.
